lawson piano trio
The Lawson Piano Trio was formed in Cambridge in 2000 by three leading members of the University Instrumental Award scheme. Since then the ensemble has flourished, and now holds a one-year junior Leverhulme Chamber Music Fellowship at the Royal Academy of Music, London, studying with Michael Dussek. They pursue a busy concert schedule nationwide and abroad, and in the summer of 2004 the trio were awarded the Kees Wiebenga Diploma for best chamber music performance at Kuhmo International chamber Music Festival. In Autumn 2004 they made their television debut, in Howard Goodall's 20th Century Greats.
Keen to explore unusual and themed programmes, the Lawson Trio includes a wide selection of contemporary and lesser-known works in its portfolio, alongside the more familiar masterworks of the piano trio genre. Their repertoire also incorporates a range of popular classics, more suitable for informal and children's concerts and workshops.
