Orchestra achievements
Suzanne Blair BA MCIL
I play Bassoon, Clarinet and Piano. I perform to Grade 8 standard on Bassoon and Clarinet and Grade 7 standard on Piano.
I have been a member of Horsham Symphony Orchestra since January 1998 in which I play 2nd Bassoon. The orchestra performs three concerts every year, in which a wide variety of music is played.
I have played the majority of the major symphonies, concertos and overtures.
Over the last few years I have also played as a guest for East Grinstead Sinfonia and East Grinstead Chamber Orchestra, as 2nd Bassoon and 2nd Clarinet.
I started learning the piano 24 years ago, clarinet XX years and Bassoon 20 years. I was a member of the Youth Orchestra playing Bassoon for Tameside Music Centre in Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire and was Solo Clarinet in their Wind Orchestra.
I went on to play for Oldham Youth Orchestra until I went to university. I toured the north-east of the USA with them performing in various concerts.
Between the ages of 15 and 18, I played Bassoon with the National Scout and Guide Symphony Orchestra and performed in many places e.g. Cardiff, Bristol, Belvoir Castle in Gloucestershire, Nottingham, York and I toured Sweden with them. We also preformed at the South Bank in London providing the music for the Clothes Show for the launch of the new Brownie and Guide uniform created by Jeff Banks.
